U S. Foreign Policy Outlook After the 2024 Election

She argued that this approach is not new, but has been part of the politics of American foreign policy at various times in U.S. history. Members of CMC’s International Relations (IR) faculty delivered brief remarks on various policies and approaches that President-elect Donald Trump will pursue on the international stage once he takes office. Following the 2024 election, Claremont McKenna College’s Keck Center for International and Strategic Studies hosted a discussion exploring the impact that a second Trump presidency will have on U.S. foreign relations. By making broad and unfair assumptions about the motives of Trump voters, they make these voters feel alienated. Some others also posited baseless theories on social media that women voted for President Trump because “white women hate black women,” or that minorities voted red because they were chasing the “whiteness they crave.” When my peers struggle to acknowledge women and people of color who prioritized a different issue in this election, they dismiss the concerns of millions of minority voters.

If you have any questions about my platform or just want to talk, feel free to reach out to me at or through my Instagram (@michael.gadinis)! We have to innovate, improvise, and improve upon the structures and systems already in place to create a CMC community that thrives digitally and feels like home to students from all walks of life. It’s impressive when first-year students step out of their comfort zones, especially by doing things such as running for class president!

CMC students deem the new data science major as “very admirable and a necessary step for CMC to remain a leading national liberal arts college,” according to David Roman ‘22, a current public policy major with a data science sequence. “Teaching a data science course like Econ 160 involves a lot more in-class lab work, where professors present a lecture and students operate software in class,” said Batta in response to the differences between teaching a traditional accounting course and Accounting Data cmc markets review Analytics. While the data science major is intended to make students experts in that realm, CMC will continue to offer the data science sequence but plans to change its name to distinguish it from the major. However, the sequence offers students familiarity with data science.” In other words, CMC intends the sequence to be interdisciplinary, as students must also complete a major. The data science major will prepare students for a data-driven world with machine intelligence.” Ideally, students majoring in data science and computer science will participate together in clinic projects during their junior year.

Now, the right response to the grandeur of the world is wonder, awe, and—dare I say it—humility. Some will argue that the best response to the vastness of the unknown is to be larger than life, to be greedy, to grab what you can. The universe is bigger and stranger than you could possibly imagine. If any of you have attended convocation over the past four years, you’ve heard it many times before. You can watch a video of his speech above or read a transcript of it below.

So now they’re rallying to Cuomo with some of them, but I don’t have that much sympathy for that. I wish they were a little less, you know, tolerant of certain things—on Israel, and so, against Israel and all that. It’s not the first time, and it’s different from the rest of the country. The following transcript has been edited for length and clarity. He rose to prominence earlier this year, winning the New York City Democratic Mayoral primary in June.

The CMC community must re-commit itself to constructive dialogue.

What You Need to Know About the Soon-to-be-Launched Data Science Major

  • I was born and raised in Colorado (a ridiculously underrated state), and I grew up hiking and camping in the Rocky Mountain backcountry.
  • And I witnessed people from cultures across the globe who didn’t just coexist but thrived together.
  • My door is always open, and I’m always available to talk about anything.
  • CMC students deem the new data science major as “very admirable and a necessary step for CMC to remain a leading national liberal arts college,” according to David Roman ‘22, a current public policy major with a data science sequence.

On campus, I am a team lead for SOURCE Nonprofit Consulting, a mentor for Smart Women Securities, and an active member of CMC’s Black Student Association and Black Women’s Collective. On campus, I have been a FYG, an RA for the Lowe Institute, and have taught boxing at Roberts Pavilion. I am an International Relations major and I recently studied abroad in Copenhagen, Denmark.

I love to cook in Janie’s, go to the farmer’s market, craft a bunch of random things, and yap, so I hope to catch y’all at my open door hours. I love being active on campus and building relationships with my peers by learning about their culture, interests, and experiences! I’m excited to help make our dorm feel like home and am pumped to be working with Kate (my co-RA) to plan some awesome events.

Henry Long 2025 Class-Elected Commencement Speech

My door is always open, and I’m always available to talk about anything. I love dancing bachata, listening to the handpan, solving crosswords, playing spikeball, and taking polar swims. I’m French-American and majoring in Organizational Studies. A bit about me, I’m a FGLI student from Hawaii PPE + GSS.

I want to represent the whole class and your ideas, dreams, and wishes. More accessible virtual events to accommodate people from all over the world. I have so many ideas for us to connect during this time.

Class of 2024: First-Year Class President Candidate Statements

I love watching movies, hanging out with my friends, traveling, and trying out new foods. I studied abroad in Milan during the spring semester of my junior year and had the time of my life traveling around Europe. In my free time, I love to thrift, listen to music, read, and gab for hours with my friends. In my free time, I love playing any kind of sport (especially cornhole, pickleball, and volleyball), dominating board games (Settlers of Catan), or doing anything involving the outdoors.

Introducing the 2025-26 RAs!

We’ve had to be the most innovative class yet to deal with all this change- which I am proud to say we embraced beautifully. I got to see people with last names like mine hold political office, lead businesses, and serve as community leaders. I’m Zane Yamamoto and I’m running to be your first-year class president. With that in mind, feel free to message me any time– and vote for me this weekend for FYCP!

“The capstone is unique in the sense that it offers students a taste of working with an external client on a real-world program and soft skills, such as proper presentation, in addition to analysis skills,” said Batta in an exclusive interview with the Forum. In the capstone, teams of four students engage in a data-analysis project for organizations in the public and private sectors. In 2018, George Roberts ‘66 P’93 donated $25 million to expand data science education and computing education.

  • “It’s not a ‘perhaps,’” they decisively rebutted, “America hates women so much, they’d rather have a rapist as the president than a woman of color.” A tense, uncomfortable silence fell over the class.
  • When I’m not grinding on schoolwork, I love to play pickleball, swim, and work out.
  • Having graduated high school in China, I’m acutely aware of the importance of bridging cultural and social gaps, and existing alongside each other as full humans.
  • I have so many ideas for us to connect during this time.
  • So now they’re rallying to Cuomo with some of them, but I don’t have that much sympathy for that.

U.S. Foreign Policy Outlook After the 2024 Election

On campus, I’m involved with SOURCE Nonprofit Consulting and Claremont Women in Business. I look forward to helping build an amazing Berger community alongside Crystal and cannot wait to meet everyone! I’m from Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and I’m dual majoring in International Relations and French with a Leadership Studies Sequence. When—not if—we see each other on campus, please please please come say hi!

Bill Kristol Says He Would Vote For Zohran Mamdani for New York City Mayor

The class of 2025 elected Henry Long to deliver remarks on their behalf at Claremont McKenna College’s 77th Commencement Ceremony on May 17th, 2025. On campus, I am part of the Claremont Consulting Group and Claremont Accounting Association. Hey everyone, my name is Rakhshaan Adamjee, and I am super excited to be one of the RAs for student apartments!

As students at an institution whose mission is to prepare us for thoughtful and productive lives, we have an obligation to be better than the hateful and divisive rhetoric consuming our civic discourse. After class, I asked those same classmates to talk. They seemed to think that whoever was daring enough to challenge their opinions only disagreed because they were racist and misogynistic, too. These classmates halted our productive discussion, made the class feel uncomfortable, and made me feel alienated. Later in the discussion, another classmate specifically accused me of condoning racism and misogyny because I went to an election watch party for Republican interns.

You’re imperfect, and you always will be, on this side of paradise. Graduates, the world you enter is a wonderful place, but it has its dangers. But without the strange correspondence between our minds and reality, none of this research would be possible. Just think for a second about how miraculous that is.

I’m excited to be able to help spread that positive community at Green and throughout campus. I am a psychology major with a sequence in gender and sexuality studies! Discussing global migration and other issues, Professor Jean-Pierre Murray, who focuses on global governance and international law, warned of a decline in multilateralism and the “liberal international world order” as a result of Trump’s rise.
